How to Create a Story
1. Select My Library from the top menu bar and then select Stories from the dropdown menu.
2. From your story library, select Create Story in the top right.
3. Complete the required story information and then select Next at the bottom.
A. Story Name
The story name should identify the story so you can easily attach it to an assignment or DrawRoom activity. The story name is required.
B. Language
The language identifier helps organize the stories by language in your library, a department library, and the Charlala Library (if submitted).
C. Level
Similar to the language identifier, the level identifier helps organize the stories in libraries.
D. Cover Image
The optional cover image will display in your library and on student assignments. You may use an image from the image library (powered by Pexels) or upload your own image.
E. Include Audio Recording
You have the option to record audio for each part of this story. Recording audio does not automatically enable students' access to the recording - this is enabled/disabled when creating the assignment.
F. Submit to Charlala Library
Content submitted to the Charlala Library will be reviewed and potentially published to Charlala's community library. Accepted content will be public for all teachers to see and use with their students. All content accepted to the library can be removed by the content author at any time. The content, however, will remain available for users that previously attached the content to an assignment for 14 additional days. The original author cannot edit content accepted to the library or during the 14-day removal window.
4. You may now write the text for the story, record audio, or delete the story part.
A. Part #
You may adjust the number to change the order of story parts if desired.
B. Text
The text is the core of your story and will be visible to students during story assignments and DrawRoom activities.
C. Audio
Recording audio for each story part is optional but great for interpretive activities.
D. Delete
Select the red delete button on the right of the story part to delete it. Deleting a story part cannot be undone.
5. If you are recording audio for the story part, select the grey microphone button and then select Record. You also have the option to upload an audio file, currently limited to .mp3 format.
6. After creating your first story part, you may Add Parts, Save the story, or Delete the story.
A. Add Parts
You may add up to 15 parts for each story. Select Add Parts and repeat steps 4-5.
B. Save
Select Save after you're finished adding story parts. Your story will be added to your story library.
C. Delete
Select Delete to permanently delete this story and all linked parts. This action cannot be undone.
7. Congratulations! After selecting Save, the story will be added to your story library. Please read the article below, How to Create a Story Assignment, to attach your story to an assignment for students. You may also host a live DrawRoom activity using the story using the article below, How to Host the DrawRoom's Story Mode.
